在晚清和民國時期，白銀鑄幣發(fā)展至頂峰，以機(jī)制白銀鑄幣（包括中國自制銀幣和外國銀幣）等為代表的貴金屬幣在社會上普遍行用，取代了傳統(tǒng)的方孔錢，成為市場通貨幣的主流。近代銀幣的大量流通，對當(dāng)時中國的社會經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展產(chǎn)生了一定的作用。

北洋造光緒元寶一共有多少個版本：
北洋機(jī)器局設(shè)在天津，分為東西兩處，東局主要生產(chǎn)火.藥、西局主要生產(chǎn)槍炮。光緒23年，李鴻章把東局分出一部分成立北洋機(jī)器鑄錢局。光緒22年直隸總督王文韶上湊朝廷請鑄銀元。光緒22年開始鑄造北洋龍洋，一直到光緒34年。
北洋龍系列按鑄造年份分為：22、23、24、25、26、29、33、34年，其中北洋22年鑄造量為，應(yīng)該屬于試鑄幣。北洋23、24、26都是鑄造量很少的。鑄造量相對多的是29、33.年。北洋年 34鑄造量屬于中等，現(xiàn)在的存世量和北洋25年差不多，比較少見！“至今有109年”了。
